Designed for beginner and less experienced intermediate runners, this training plan aims to help you complete your target distance comfortably on race day. The plan focuses on building both physical and physiological foundations over time, with three key training targets: Duration, Intensity, and Elevation.

 

  • Duration focuses on developing aerobic capacity (stamina) and conditioning the feet and legs to handle the load and impact of running.
  • Intensity is balanced between easy efforts to improve base fitness and harder efforts to boost upper-end speed.
  • Elevation incorporates slope training to add resistance, functionally strengthening running muscles.

 

These elements are interrelated and collectively contribute to the overall training stress and load As you progress through the plan, the balance of these factors will shift, with longer, more challenging runs at lower intensities and shorter, less intense runs at higher intensities. Each new training phase is designed to safely challenge your body, focusing on aerobic development, strength endurance, and speed. This structured approach provides runners with the essential building blocks to elevate their running performance to new heights.
